After more than a year of planning and preparation, the 2022 Wings Over Columbus Open House Airshow is now history. This year’s show was a huge success with a record crowd of more than 60,000. A lot of the credit goes to the support of the great sponsors which allowed the airshow to bring in quality acts and entertainment. The USAF Thunderbirds headlined the airshow and were joined by 14 other premiere aviation performers such as Rob Holland Ultimate Airshows, Trojan Phlyers, Aeroshell, and the Air Combat Command A-10 Demonstration Team featuring pyrotechnics. Also, the Kid’s Zone, food vendors, and beer garden were all part of the services provided by sponsorship money.
Visit Columbus, the Mayor’s office, other local agencies, and hundreds of volunteers stepped up with amazing support for many aspects of the airshow. By all accounts, this show was a huge win for not only the Air Force and Columbus Air Force Base, but also Columbus, and the surrounding communities. The economic impact was significant. Columbus, Starkville and West Point hotels were at 100% capacity and restaurants were packed.
This year’s open house airshow sponsorship support exceeded expectations with 14FSS Marketing raising nearly $200,000 in financial and in-kind support for Wings Over Columbus. On behalf of the 14th Flying Training Wing, 14th Force Support Squadron, and Mission Support Group… THANK YOU!
