Relocation Assistance Program
Stressed about moving? Our Relocation Assistance Program at Columbus AFB will assist you with information and education to ease the personal and family stressors military families experience with a permanent change of station (PCS). Serving over 500 each year, the Relocation Assistance Program (RAP) manager ensures members and/or families make informed decisions and preparations when relocating/moving. The most important thing you can do to ensure a smooth move is start planning early using the many programs, services and tools available.

Wing Newcomers Orientation – Newcomers Orientation is from 0800-1550. This base-wide CONNECTION orientation begins at the Columbus Club Event Center and, after lunch on your own, concludes with a base bus tour. The event’s main foundation is a mobile App, so if you plan to attend, please locate and download the Columbus Air Force Base App from the App Store prior to attending. Smooth Move Workshop – This workshop is highly recommended for first-time and over-seas relocating members. Get the very latest moving information straight from base-wide relocation assistance agencies. Learn what to expect before you move with information from Tri-Care, Housing, Military Pay, TMO, Medical Records and A&FRC. Be sure to bring and ask any relocating questions you may have during this event.
Sponsorship Training – An electronic version of sponsorship training called eSponsorship Application & Training (eSAT) is the required training course to become a sponsor. This spouse orientation program is designed for spouses new to the military or new to Columbus AFB. This is a great opportunity to increase knowledge of the Air Force mission, customs, traditions, protocols and available programs and services in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Transition Assistance Program (TAP) Workshop held at AFRC is mandatory for all personnel separating or retiring, Pre-separation counseling is required before attending. Seminars on: Transition, Military Occupational Code Crosswalk, Financial Planning, Health Benefits, MS Dept of Employment Security, Dept of Veterans Affairs, Disabled TAP, Dept of Labor TAP portion. Preseparation counseling is required before attending. Recommend attendance 8 – 12 months prior to separation/retirement. Spouses are encouraged to attend with their sponsor.
